Backend Developer

Job description

Appboy is facing a diverse set of hard and exciting technology problems -- we're in the thick of today's hot technologies, we're tackling challenges in the social and mobile space, data analytics, recommendation engines, systems/scaling and offer the freedom, flexibility and excitement that only an early stage startup can provide. Our SDK's direct customers are other software developers, but through their apps, we gain the combined user base of every app we integrate into. As such, we're face to face with the exciting challenge of developing systems to gracefully handle explosive growth..

We're looking for a backend developer to help us build out a highly scalable, dynamic backend for the SDK as well as our analytics and developer outreach platforms. In addition to software engineering, candidates should have a firm grasp of computer science concepts.

Appboy is developing a mobile SDK that solves key mobile application marketplace problems and helps users and mobile app developers connect and benefit from each other. With an ambitious vision to combine analytics, social sharing, recommendations, developer outreach, customer relationship management, and more, the Appboy SDK is positioned to become an integral tool for mobile application developers to expand their reach and find success. The past three months we've grown to six full time employees and are nearing our planned launch. We're seeing an incredible amount of interest from developers and investors and are very excited to see where the next few months lead us.

Skills & Experience

Recommended Qualifications:

Computer Science degree or equivalent experience
Experience with functional languages and MVC such as Ruby on Rails or Python/Django
Understanding of algorithms, data structures, and design

Bonus:

Experience handling rapid user growth
Experience building and designing large scale applications
Familiarity with mongoDB
Strong experience with Ruby on Rails
Knowledgeable with HTML, CSS, and Javascript libraries such as jQuery and Backbone.js

iOS Developer

Job Description

We're looking for an iOS developer to help build the Appboy SDK product. Candidates should have a firm grasp of computer science concepts. We're writing foundational software, so we need solid, scalable design or we will be in pain as we grow. Candidates should have previous experience building and designing large scale applications and should be able to discuss and defend their design choices. We're much more interested in finding great technologists with strong abilities and a willingness to learn than we are in finding an encyclopedic knowledge of iOS. However, due to our small size and our aggressive timelines, it is important that candidates have non-trivial experience building for the iOS platform and can hit the ground running.
