In the tech space right now, there are a few companies competing for the top space in terms of innovation. When it comes to profitability, there is no denying that there is only one winner. However, as far as the most interesting companies to watch, I think we can all agree that Google is right on top of the list.

I interviewed Vic Gundotra, Senior VP Engineering of Google last month and one of the questions I asked him was, what is Google? Is it a search company? A mobile company? An advertising company? A car manufacturing company? A glasses company? Should I go on? Well, you can read his answer and the entire interview here.

Meanwhile, I wrote about a futuristic project that Google was supposedly working on a few months back. But no one could confirm whether or not Google was really in the process of developing augmented reality glasses that would rock our world.

Well, Google just released this um, awkward video of the new glasses in action from the viewpoint of the user. There is no question that the thought of using such a product is intriguing  although, something tells me we are not ready for these glasses yet. With products like this and Samsung’s Smart Window, sometimes I get the feeling technology is moving too fast for our own good.

Of course, it wasn’t long before the parodies began to show up, but that was to be expected.

So what do you think of Google Glasses? Would you wear them? You have to admit, they look a lot better than what you would expect such glasses to look like.
